Tobacco 21 in Ohio

Overview

CPHSS is collaborating with Interact for Health to evaluate its Tobacco 21 Initiative. The evaluation focuses on the local model Tobacco 21 policy passed in the City of Cincinnati. Our evaluation will assess the model Tobacco 21 policy at three key policy stages: policy development, policy implementation and enforcement, and policy impact. The evaluation will use evidence-based and innovative strategies to collect information from priority populations. For example, the evaluation will include key informant interviews, youth and young adult surveys via social media, and surveys of licensed tobacco retailers to gather information about tobacco use and perceptions and attitudes toward tobacco and the Tobacco 21 policy.

The information learned from Interact for Health’s Tobacco 21 Initiative will provide valuable insight for Interact for Health, the City of Cincinnati, and the state of Ohio. Through broader dissemination efforts, CPHSS and Interact for Health will use the information learned through this evaluation to contribute to the knowledge base for Tobacco 21 policies.
