We are excited to announce the launch of the new Health Design and Impact Lab (HDIL) at the School of Public Health, Washington University in St. Louis. Built on a mission to engage communities in advanced design to develop interventions and improve systems for lasting health impact, the HDIL is dedicated to designing health interventions and systems that can be implemented, sustained, and scaled to maximize impact.
The Health Design and Impact Lab engages community members in all aspects of design and leverages expertise in implementation science, systems science, and digital health. Our work extends from the Prevention Research Center in St. Louis and the Center for Public Health Systems Science, focusing on four primary impact areas:
- Designing for Dissemination and Sustainability
- Participatory Systems Science Research
- Human-Centered Design
- Health Services Improvement
Under the direction of Maura Kepper and Sara Malone, the Health Design and Impact Lab will serve as an applied learning space for graduate students, postdocs, partners, and other trainees to gain hands-on research experience and life-long learning.
“Through the Health Design and Impact Lab, we hope to create stronger connections with our community to co-create sustainable health interventions that address real-world challenges. This lab embodies the spirit of WashU’s Here and Next plan, as it represents our commitment to innovative research, community engagement, and the overall betterment of society. ” -Dr. Maura Kepper
