CPHSS recently released the 2012 Evaluation Report for the Healthy & Active Communities (H&AC) Initiative. Funded by the Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH), the H&AC Initiative promotes healthy lifestyles and aims to reduce obesity rates in Missouri. CPHSS serves as the external evaluator for this initiative.
The new 2012 Evaluation Report reflects the Center’s move to display data in a more visual way. The result is a dynamic document that uses a balance of infographics and smaller sections of text to tell the story of the H&AC Initiative’s successes in Missouri.
The United States has seen a steady increase in the prevalence of obesity rates over the past several decades. However, CPHSS H&AC evaluators have found that since Missouri’s H&AC efforts began, “…the proportion of Missourians who are overweight or obese has increased at slower rate” than other communities in the United States. Since the initiative’s establishment by MFH in 2005, project activities have been conducted in 62% of the counties in Missouri and in the City of St. Louis.
